welcoming Radiance's new director, "miss mia"

Mia began her dance journey later than most dancers, at  the age 10 at Noosa Professional Dance Academy, where she was accelerated to full-time training with Marie Walton-Mahon Dance Academy. At the age of 16 Mia left home and moved to Switzerland to train at Tanz Akademie, Zurich and danced a range of classical roles and contemporary works throughout Switzerland, Germany and Italy. She then returned to Australia where she completed her Diploma of Dance Performance with the National College of Dance.

Mia has also studied Small Business Management, Photography and Sports Psychology, and works as a freelance guest teacher, examiner, choreographer and adjudicator.

Dear Radiance Academy Families,

I am thrilled to introduce myself as the new Director of Radiance Academy Toowoomba. Some of you may know me as as the Director of the Toowoomba Ballet Theatre, where I have been uniting the dance community to stage incredible productions at the Empire Theatre for the last decade.

With extensive industry experience, I have had the privilege of wearing many hats throughout my career, starting from my humble beginnings as a young dancer at my first ballet class. I have since found myself in many exciting and rewarding roles, including professional dancer, teacher, choreographer, director, judge, examiner, eisteddfod convenor, and dance mom.

I have truly experienced the industry from every angle and witnessed the incredible career pathways that can blossom from a passion for dance. I am particularly excited about staging The Little Mermaid for our end of year showcase, which happens to be my personal favourite fairytale of all time. It will be a fitting first concert of many as we embark on this exciting new chapter together.

I cannot wait to meet all of you and share my passion for dance with the wonderful community here at Radiance Academy. Let's create magical moments together and make beautiful memories through the art of dance.

Yours in dance,

“Miss Mia”

Mia Huston

Director,  Radiance Academy Toowoomba
