ATOD Dance Exams and our Acro Medals are an incredible experience for dancers of all ages and abilities. Exams foster a gentle yet structured environment to ensure dancers meet their developmental milestones, get valuable feedback and recognition of their progress.

Exam preparation:

You will receive a slip from your teacher if your student is likely be ready for the exams.  

Dancers are expected to attend classes and practise exams.

Attire Requirements

All students require full uniform (Please refer to the 2024 Exam Uniforms)

Girls require a matching ribbon in the hair

Hair and grooming needs to be perfect. Here is the hair tutorial if you need a refresher.

Shoes and tights are to be clean and in good condition (no holes, ladders)

Absolutely no underwear may be visible (examiners deduct points for this)

No jewellery, watches, fake tattoo or makeup may be worn.

Senior ballet students do not require demi pointes. These can be used in class to strengthen feet but are not an exam requirement.

Expected Costs

The exam package will be charged to your account and includes your exam entry fees and the exam practise day.

Theory books are compulsory from Bronze and above: approximately $25.

Photography

Our wonderful Miss Amy will be in the studio on exam day to capture the memory!

All students should get a group and single photos before leaving the studio.

On the day of the Exam:

Arrival time 1 hour before the exam time.

Each dancer pins numbers to the front and back of their leotard.

Parents can assist dancers getting ready.

All ballet students from Bronze Medal upwards need to hand in their theory book on the day of the exam. Please ensure it is named so that it can be returned.

For those of you who haven't done exams before, the following booklet will give an idea of what the exam day will look like.

Exams will run from 15th to 18th of September. Exact days and times, as well as practise exam dates will be released closer to examinations after entries close.
